Winni Woods News Update for 2020...

Posted 9/17/2019 12:55pm by Aaron Lichtenberg.

Hello Farm Faithful,

As we begin to wrap up our eighth year farming, we have received many inquiries about the 2020 growing season. So, we are reaching out to share with you that we have had to make the difficult decision to close our CSA program at the end of the 2019 season.

Why? Many of you are aware that we have always wanted our own farm property,
and while we haven't yet found this opportunity, a change in land ownership
for the bulk portion of the land we have been leasing has altered our
short-term goals. Due to the inability to come to an agreement on lease
terms with the new landowners, we have been forced to close our CSA program.

For now, we will continue to farm on the separate plot of land where our
high-tunnel and upper gardens are located. Our long-term plans are
uncertain, but the short-term plan is: to offer 2019 Fall Shares; maintain
a portion of our floral business; as well as continue our wholesale
operations and the prepared goods side of the farm. We also intend to
ensure that our community building work over the last 8 years, particularly
the Got Lunch! Fresh Vegetable Program, does not stop with this change in
our farm's future.

Both of us want to share how rewarding it has been to have your support of
our farm. The experiences we have shared with all of you remind us of the
powerful connections we've made, and leaves us feeling like a truly integral
part of the community. It has been a joy creating, with all of you, the
Community” in our Community Supported Agriculture program.

We sincerely thank you all for the laughs, the banter, the recipes and
cooking stories, the thoughtful homemade treats you share with us, the
stories -both happy and sad-, and most of all, your generous support of what
we do. Although we are leaving a plot of land, we are not leaving
connections, friendships, and memories behind, and we look forward to
continuing these relationships for many years to come. Please keep in
touch.

Many Thanks,
Aaron & Liz
